NKCH received the Kansas City Medical Society’s Community Service Award at the group’s annual meeting in November.
The society gives the annual award to a physician or organization that voluntarily contributes to the health of the community.
“The committee chose NKCH because of their generous contributions to the MetroCARE program over the past 10 years,” said Angela Bedell, executive director of the Kansas City Medical Society.
MetroCARE improves access to medical care for low income, uninsured residents of Jackson, Clay and Platte counties through volunteerism by healthcare professionals.
Over 400 volunteer specialty-care physicians and safety net clinics provide services. The Kansas City Medical Society is a 3,400-member physician organization that works to advance the health of people in Kansas City through physician leadership, advocacy and innovation.
