Day 25 – I give up – I have tried those stupid protein powders mixed every which way imaginable… I just can’t do them…. either the smell, taste or texture gets me every single time – even the ones that are supposed to have “NO TASTE” – my butt! Tired of puking that crap up… so…. I will continue to get a low carb slim fast down everyday – it is good compared to those powders – and pray that Dec 2 gets here quick – then I can start to have meat and protein won’t be a big issue….. good thing the weight loss is quick to keep me motivated because the rest of recovery is pretty much the pits…. but I’m making it…. will be honest…. today is the first day I have really questioned why I did this….. hormone changes may be playing a big part of today as well – I’m cold…. haven’t been cold in a long long time!
Day 27 – Taco soup last night for supper – tasted heavenly even though everything was mashed up! And no problems at all…. beans; corn; hamburger…. just ate very slowly and chewed, chewed, chewed…. pushing the envelope just a bit but mental stability is important as well…. slept great, feel good this morning….
Day 28 – New challenge- staying hydrated in the hot tub- must remember to take water out with me- can’t come in and chug a bottle anymore- staying hydrated is a full time job since surgery.
Day 30 – STAGE 4 DIET – get to add shaved deli meats, fish, tofu, toast, crackers, peanut butter, regular consistency oatmeal…. Life is going to be better!!!! Did eat some grilled fish today – did good!
Day 34 – Finding the breaking point between ‘enough’ and ‘too much’ is proving to be quite challenging. One bite can make a huge difference. My stomach has to learn what to do with real food again… and right now, it’s not sure it likes it at all. Soft foods we do pretty good, but as I’ve added more foods, it has let me know that we are still in the healing mode. Which the doctor told me 2-3 months for total healing and it has only been one month yesterday so I know I’m guilty of pushing that ‘eating envelope’ just a bit. Food does taste good and in very small quantities I’m doing fine. Biggest problem, or maybe the blessing, I always feel full. So when they tell me to only eat when I’m hungry and only eat until I feel full… having a hard time sensing the difference right now. All things in due time… weight loss has slowed this past week, but still losing weight.
Day 37 – found an interesting website gastricbypasstruth.com. Read an interesting article One Month After Gastric bypass: Buyers Remorse. I have no regrets at all of having the surgery, but the information in the article is very true. This is not easy!
Day 38 – Don’t laugh- it worked for one day anyway- I have some orange flavored protein supplement that can either be taken straight or mixed (it came w recipe for Jell-O shots) so I decided to just try it straight. Poured the ounce of crap in a shot glass and threw it back like bad tequila- well, I kept it down at least and that gave me 18 g of protein – chased it with a teaspoon of peanut butter to get the nasty taste out of my mouth…. 25 g of protein total!!!! So for the first day in over a week I hit my goal of 60 g of protein. We’ll see how tomorrow goes!
