Day 40 – 5+ weeks out and the one thing I can say – it is a lot easier to avoid things that I’ve always liked that I’m not supposed to eat then it is to add in the things that I don’t like that I need to eat…. yogurt, cottage cheese, fish…. uck… I have gotten some fish worked in and am going to try yogurt again this week – getting desperate because the protein supplements are that bad…. cottage cheese – no way – rotten milk. One sure thing – this IS NOT the EASY way… but it is working… my blood pressure is much better; my blood sugars are much better – weight loss has slowed tremendously but still losing. Right on schedule!
Day 43 – Long day of appointments in the city – marketing rep at NKC hospital- working on the blog; my regular counselor; back to NKC to see Dr. Burgoff – he thinks all is well, says I should really start to see great improvement in my energy level in the next 2-4 weeks; met w nutritionist- got a lecture for pushing foods ahead of the schedule, but overall thinks I’m doing well- got to get more protein; talked about my frustrations w cooking then not being able to eat and the fact that it is easier to just not eat- then home! But have now lost 34 pounds in 6 weeks- right on schedule!
Day 48 – Went out to eat in a restaurant for the first time since before surgery. Was able to eat most of a cup of broccoli cheddar soup at Panera Bread and the smoked turkey off my ½ sandwich. Very nice to eat out – have really missed that part of my social life.
Day 50 - rough day yesterday – hard to drink enough or have things to eat when I’m not at home… then stomach really doesn’t like food when it is too empty or too thirsty… and it’s never hungry so it’s hard to gauge. Anyway – not many calories were processed yesterday – hope today is better – have lots to do to be ready for Christmas this weekend so need some energy. Protein shot is down for this morning, meds are taken, and ate some rice krispies… that is better than yesterday.
Day 56 – Down 41 pounds – Merry Christmas to me! Have attended several Christmas gatherings in the past few days and have not been tempted by all the food; it just doesn’t even sound good. I am still struggling with not knowing if I am hungry or nauseated, both feel much the same so it is trial and error. Really starting to tell the weight loss which is wonderful! Got to advance to Stage 5 diet this week which includes ground beef, ground poultry and ham and cold cereals!!! Little by little – still getting along well. Once in awhile I eat one bite too much and I know it immediately.
